Recruited to the Edward Lowe Foundation in 2005, Penny Lewandowski is responsible for developing and delivering programs that help second-stage entrepreneurs — business owners focused on high and sustainable growth rather than survival — get to the next level.
These educational and recognition programs are based on peer learning with flagship products including PeerSpectives® Roundtables, Companies to Watch℠ and PeerSpectives® Leader Retreats. Lewandowski cultivates appropriate partners to deliver these programs throughout the country and manages the rollout process. She also directs the foundation's entrepreneurship team and manages technology services.
Lewandowski brings a strong background in team building and partnership management to the foundation. Previously, she was executive director of the Greater Baltimore Technology Council Inc., an organization that seeks to strengthen the Baltimore region's technology community. In addition to membership recruitment, fund raising, communications and partnership development, Lewandowski organized council members to provide a unified legislative voice. She also directed TechNite, the largest technology event in the Baltimore region.
Among other positions, Lewandowski served as director of entrepreneurship and education for the Morino Institute, a nationally recognized entrepreneurship program in Reston, Va. She also directed George Mason University's Century Club, a group formed to build alliances between the university and business community.
In 2003 the Kauffman Foundation named Lewandowski as the recipient of its prestigious "National Supporter of Entrepreneurship" award. Other honors include being tapped as one of the region's most influential leaders by The Baltimore Business Journal and one of "Maryland's Top 100 Women" by The Daily Record newspaper.
Lewandowski is a member of Leadership Washington and Leadership Maryland. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, W.Va.
